![]() ![]() It is just showing the old Time Machine disk selected and Automatic backups off. And, according to something I was reading, if you look into the Time Machine in Settings it should indicate that it working, showing numbers or something and it is not. BTW, I did shut off my virus scanner to make sure that wasn't interfering. Tried software and it just gave me an error that Apple proprietary something wouldn't allow it. I found some examples of using "cp -a" and it didn't work, so I expanded on it and started trying to get just the right command to make it work remembering that it would need to keep the symbolic links in place and such. ![]() The command line on OSX is Unix based, so it should be easy. Then I thought I might be able to do it from command line since I have a bachelors degree in CS and I deal with Linux every day. One was to use Disk Utility to "Restore" the drive to the new location. I looked up some other ways to do it that seemed promising. I tried that and it just wasn't moving according to the "preparing to copy" number, so I quit. Apple recommends that you format the new drive, adjust the permissions and so forth and then drag the "Backups.backupdb" to new drive. According to Disk Utility it has 12,566,843 files! My Time Machine drive is 3/4 full and I found a really good price on a 5TB external (USB 3.0) drive. I have a 2TB Time Machine external drive (USB 3.0) with files back to 2016. This is for a Mac Mini (Late 2012) running version 10.15.5 (Catalina) that has RAM upgraded to 16GB and SSD. ![]()
